Apps Development

Native apps built to ship, and to keep running

Native applications for iOS, macOS, and Windows — designed properly, built on scalable architecture, submitted to the stores, and supported after launch rather than abandoned at handover.

In short

Custom app development means building an application specific to one business rather than adapting off-the-shelf software. DAvision builds native iOS, macOS, and Windows applications in Calgary: interface design, scalable architecture, backend and cloud integration, App Store or Microsoft Store submission, and post-launch support. Projects start at $4,550 for a single-platform app and reach $22,750 for custom architecture with offline-first functionality and CI/CD.

Most business apps die in the gap between demo and production

The prototype impressed everyone and shipped to nobody

A demo that works on one device with clean data is not an application. Real users bring bad networks, odd inputs, and edge cases.

Store rejection burns a month

Privacy manifests, data-use disclosures, and review guidelines change constantly. A submission built without them is a four-week detour.

Nobody planned for version two

Architecture decided in week one determines whether feature five takes days or a rewrite.

What is in the build

Native, not a wrapped website

Swift and SwiftUI on Apple platforms, native tooling on Windows. Real performance, real platform conventions, real offline behaviour.

Interface design before code

Prototyped and reviewed with you while changes are still cheap.

Backend and cloud integration

Authentication, data sync, and API layer built alongside the app rather than bolted on.

Store submission handled

App Store and Microsoft Store listings, privacy manifests, screenshots, review responses. We manage the process end to end.

Analytics and crash reporting

You find out about problems from telemetry, not from reviews.

CI/CD so updates are routine

Automated builds and releases. Shipping a fix should take an afternoon, not a fortnight.

How it works

Four steps, no surprises. You see a working version before you pay the balance.

1

Scope and architecture

What it must do, who uses it, what it connects to, and how it needs to scale.

2

Design and prototype

Interactive prototype reviewed with you before a line of production code is written.

3

Build in visible increments

You see working builds on real devices throughout, not one reveal at the end.

4

Submit, launch, support

Store submission, release, then bug-fix warranty and ongoing updates.

Packages & pricing

Fixed-price builds in Canadian dollars. Ongoing support is quoted separately from $750 per month.

The decisions that determine what version two costs

Almost every expensive app rebuild traces back to an architecture decision made in the first fortnight, usually to hit a demo date. Data modelled around one screen instead of the domain. Business logic written into view controllers. Authentication bolted on after the fact. None of those hurt at launch. All of them make the fifth feature take four times longer than the first, until someone concludes the app is 'legacy' eighteen months after it shipped.

So we scope architecture before design and design before code. That means agreeing what the app must do, who uses it, what it connects to, and — critically — what it will plausibly need to do in a year. Offline behaviour in particular is close to impossible to retrofit: an app that assumed connectivity cannot be made to work in a mechanical room or a rural job site without substantial rework. If your users will ever be offline, that decision belongs in week one.

Store submission is the other reliable source of delay. Apple's privacy manifest requirements, data-use disclosures, and review guidelines change several times a year, and a build prepared without them can lose a month in rejection cycles. We handle submission at every tier, including responding to review feedback, because the process is procedural knowledge rather than engineering and there is no reason for a client to learn it.

After launch, the thing that keeps an app healthy is boring: crash reporting, analytics, and a deployment pipeline that makes shipping a fix routine. Where releases require manual steps, fixes get batched, batches get delayed, and small problems stay live for weeks. Automating that is a day of work at build time and saves considerably more than that in the first year.

What changes after launch

Concrete, measurable, and checkable against the baseline we take before we start.

Users on real devices, not a demo laptop

Tested on the hardware and networks your people actually have, including the bad ones.

Problems found by telemetry, not reviews

Crash reporting and analytics mean you hear about a bug from the dashboard rather than from a one-star rating.

Updates ship in an afternoon

CI/CD at Enterprise tier turns releases into a routine action rather than a project.

Who this is for

Field teams in construction and energy who need offline-capable tools on site. Clinics wanting patient-facing booking and intake. Companies with an internal process that has outgrown spreadsheets and needs a real interface around it.

We work with dental clinics, construction, energy, real estate, and commercial businesses across Calgary and Canada.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to build an app in Calgary?

A single-platform native app with store submission starts at $4,550. Adding prototyped UX, push notifications, backend integration, and authentication brings it to $11,550. Custom architecture with offline-first functionality, encryption, and CI/CD starts at $22,750.

How long does an app take?

Six to eight weeks for a Basic single-platform build, three to four months for Pro. Enterprise projects depend on scope and are quoted after architecture.

Do you handle App Store submission?

Yes, at every tier. That includes the privacy manifest, data-use disclosures, listing assets, and responding to review feedback until it is approved.

Who owns the code?

You do. Source is delivered to your repository, and Pro and Enterprise builds include handover documentation so another team could pick it up.

Can you take over an app someone else built?

Often, yes. We start with a code and architecture review to establish whether continuing is cheaper than rebuilding, and tell you honestly which it is.

What happens after launch?

Every tier includes a warranty period — three, six, or twelve months. Beyond that, ongoing monitoring, updates, and improvement hours are covered by a support plan from $750 per month.
